Falcon supports MIDI Output since version 3. This article will help you set up MIDI Output for Falcon in your favorite host software (DAW).
Please note that the Audio Unit (AU) plugin format does not support MIDI Output for software instruments, so this article refers to common VST hosts and Pro Tools (AAX).
Using MIDI Out in Cubase
In this example, MIDI events generated in Falcon are routed to a track with UVI Workstation through MIDI Channel 10:
- Load Falcon in a track, then load a sound from the Getting Started window or the File Browser, or design your own sound.
- Add the MIDI Out script at Layer or Program level, then set MIDI Channel to 'As is'.
- Create a new MIDI or Instrument track (with UVI Workstation for instance), then select '01. Falcon - MIDI Output' in the Input Routing menu.
- Select the desired MIDI channel in the Channel menu.
Important note: Cubase actually takes priority on MIDI channel routing which is defined here by the MIDI channel selected in the Input Routing menu, no matter which value is selected in the MIDI Out script in Falcon.
Using MIDI Out in Digital Performer
In this example, MIDI events generated in Falcon are routed to a track with UVI Workstation through MIDI Channel 10:
- Go to Studio in the menu bar, then make sure that Multi Record is enabled.
- Load Falcon in a track, then load a sound from the Getting Started window or the File Browser, or design your own sound.
- Add the MIDI Out script at Layer or Program level, then set the desired MIDI Channel.
- Add a MIDI or an Instrument track and enable Record, then select 'Falcon [34 out]-1-any' from the Input menu.
Using MIDI Out in FL Studio
Step 1 - Enabling MIDI Output support for Falcon
- Load Falcon in a track, then load a sound from the Getting Started window or the File Browser, or design your own sound.
- Add the MIDI Out script at Layer or Program level, then set the desired MIDI Channel.
- Open the Detailed Settings by clicking the cogwheel icon at top left in the plugin window.
- Open the VST Wrapper Settings, then go to Settings > MIDI.
- Set Output Port to 0 to enable MIDI Out port.

Step 2 - Enabling MIDI Input for the destination track

- Load another plug-in instrument in another track, UVI Workstation for instance.
- Open the Detailed Settings by clicking the cogwheel icon at top left in the plugin window.
- Open the VST Wrapper Settings, then to Settings > MIDI.
- Set Input Port to 0 to enable MIDI Input port.
- Load another plug-in instrument in another track, UVI Workstation for instance.

Using MIDI Out in Live
In this example, MIDI events generated in Falcon are routed to the track #3 with UVI Workstation through MIDI Channel 10:
- Load Falcon in a MIDI track then load a sound from the Getting Started window or the File Browser, or design your own sound.
- Add the MIDI Out script at Layer or Program level, then set MIDI Channel to 'As is'.
- Create a new MIDI track, then enable Record.
- In the MIDI From section:
- Select '1-Falcon' from the Input Type menu.
- Select 'Falcon' from the Input Channel menu.
- In the MIDI To section:
- Select the desired target in the Output Type menu (for instance, another MIDI/Instrument track, or an external MIDI hardware).
- Select the desired MIDI channel in the Output Channel menu.
Important note: Ableton Live actually takes priority on MIDI channel routing which is defined here by the MIDI channel selected the MIDI Output Channel menu, no matter which value is selected in the MIDI Out script in Falcon.
Using MIDI Out in Pro Tools
In this example, MIDI events generated in Falcon are routed to a track with UVI Workstation:
- Load Falcon an instrument track, then load a sound from the Getting Started window or the File Browser, or design your own sound.
- Add the MIDI Out script at Layer or Program level, then set MIDI Channel to As is.
- Create a new instrument track, load an instrument, UVI Workstation for instance, then enable track record.
- In the Instrument section of the track, go to the the MIDI Input Selector menu then select Falcon Out > all channels.
- In the MIDI Output Selector menu, go to UVIWorkstation then select the desired MIDI channel (channel 1-16).
Important note: Pro Tools actually takes priority on MIDI channel routing which is defined here by the MIDI channel selected in the MIDI Output Selector, no matter which value is selected in the MIDI Out script in Falcon.
Using MIDI Out in Reaper
In this example, MIDI events generated in Falcon are routed to a track with UVI Workstation:
- Load Falcon in a track, then load a sound from the Getting Started window or the File Browser, or design your own sound.
- Add the MIDI Out script at Layer or Program level, then set the desired MIDI Channel.
- Create a new instrument track, load an instrument, UVI Workstation for instance.
- Click on the Route option, then go to Receives and select Falcon in the drop-down menu.
